Asking for help with your marriage can feel like a big step. Not knowing what to expect can make it harder. Here’s how it works with Pastor Victor, from first enquiry to first session.
1. Send an enquiry
You start by sending a short enquiry. Tell us a little about yourselves and what you’d like help with. You don’t need to write everything down. A few lines is enough. Everything you share is kept confidential.
2. Have a short call
Pastor Victor will arrange a short call to talk about your situation and whether his sessions are the right fit. It’s a chance for you to ask questions too: about how sessions work, how often you’ll meet, fees and whether to meet online or in person.
There’s no commitment at this stage. If his sessions aren’t the right fit, you can talk about where else to find help.
3. Your first session
If you decide to go ahead, you’ll receive some welcome information and a schedule for your sessions.
In a first session, you can expect:
- Time to tell your story. Each of you will have space to say what’s been happening and how you feel. You won’t be rushed, and you won’t be judged.
- Scripture and prayer. Sessions are based on the Bible, so expect God’s word and prayer to be part of them.
- A plan. Together you’ll agree what you’re hoping for and what the sessions will focus on.
- Something to try at home. Often a small, practical step before you meet again.
What if we’re nervous?
Most couples are. It’s normal to feel anxious, embarrassed or worried that you’ll be blamed. Remember that the aim of the sessions is to help you both. You’re welcome to say how you’re feeling at the start.
What if only one of us wants to come?
That’s common too. Read when your spouse won’t come to sessions for some thoughts. You can mention this on your first call.
Online or in person?
Sessions can be online or in person. Many couples find online sessions easier to fit around work and children, and some feel more relaxed at home. See online or in person: choosing what suits you.
After the first session
Between sessions, try the steps you agreed, keep talking, and keep praying. Change usually comes through small steps repeated over time.
